Ten winters driving in Val d'Isère.

Since 2016, our chauffeurs drive the RD902 up from Bourg-Saint-Maurice every morning, learning to read the last twelve kilometres — the switchbacks above La Daille, the sudden fog banks between Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise and Tignes, the black ice that forms after a clear night at 1850. Ten winters spent recognising an icy hairpin by the way the V-Class handles the Cormet de Roselend when it briefly opens in November, knowing exactly when the road crew has finished plowing the axis Val Village — Le Fornet. That is what being a private chauffeur in Val d'Isère means to us: not simply driving, but living the resort.

Our team knows every corner of the Espace Killy — from La Daille lift base to Le Fornet cable car, from the Solaise plateau to the Rocher de Bellevarde parking. The Mercedes V-Class 4MATIC (Viano) remains our most requested vehicle — seven seats when families, skis and boot bags need to travel together, or a dedicated luggage van when the volume calls for it. The Mercedes S-Class takes over for individual end-of-day transfers between Airelles Val d'Isère — Mademoiselle Ocre and a dinner reservation at L'Atelier d'Edmond. The Range Rover Vogue steps in when the road up from Le Fornet asks for more than a winter tyre. The entire fleet is under two years old — latest model only.

Our regulars book their December-to-April stays with us — from the Critérium de la Première Neige weekend at the World Cup opener to closing day on the Pissaillas glacier at the end of April. We also answer last-minute requests: a private jet landing at Chambéry after a storm and needing a run up before dinner, a delayed Eurostar Snow Train arrival at Bourg-Saint-Maurice, an unplanned dinner at Le Refuge de Solaise, Europe's highest hotel at 2551 m. We know the doormen at Le K2 Chogori and Le Yule, the concierges of Le Christiania, the ESF instructors who prefer we collect their clients at a precise spot on the Face de Bellevarde return path. That level of detail is not learned in one season. It is learned in ten.

Licensed private chauffeur (VTC) registered on the EVTC register — we drive to Val d'Isère throughout the winter season, from the resort's early opening in late November to the closing of the pistes in late April, and through the summer when the Route de l'Iseran, the highest paved road in Europe at 2 764 m, reopens for excursions.

"We called at 22:40 from Airelles Val d'Isère — snow was starting to fall on the Iseran and our jet had been rerouted to Chambéry. Nicolas was outside our door at 22:52 with a V-Class already warmed. He knew the RD902 salt-truck schedule better than the concierge."

"Three winters in a row with Leader in Val d'Isère. Always the same chauffeur. He knows our daughter's name, the shortcut that avoids the Saturday changeover jam at La Daille, and he always keeps a blanket for her in the Range Rover."

"The Bourg-Saint-Maurice pickup at midnight is what makes them different. Our Eurostar Snow Train arrived late — nobody else was answering. Their driver had been waiting since 23:15, standing on the platform with a hot coffee."
